2. GOD’S HAND UPON ME (PS.139)

Make a mental representation of being before God and all Saints and God’s angels.

Asking for the grace not only to know but also to experience and to feel intensively that God loves me, is intervening in each event of my life, that I have been included in His plan so that I am as I am today.

In this prayer, please read slowly this psalm, stop and reflect on which you like, then speak to God as you desire. Or have a look in the suggestions below.

i. God always pays attention on me

“O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.”

The Lord does not only see me, but also scrutinize my acts, my behavior, my words, my intention, even very small and intimate thing which happened to me, so that He knows me.

“You laid your hand upon me”, “You have enclosed me behind and before.” God always intervenes in my life to save me and keep me in His love until now.

ii. Impossible to escape from God

Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Where can I flee from Your presence?

It seems that in a certain moment the author of this psalm wanted to hide himself from God, but God is ineluctable for him. If I ascend to heaven, God is there; even though I descend in Sheol, God is there, too. Going up, coming down, escaping to the west, flying to the est., God is there. Even though in the darkness of the night God sees and knows everything.

Nothing in my life can be hidden before God. Nothing related to me is unknown by God.

iii. God loves me because He created me

But suddenly the author of this psalm recognize the truth:

You formed my inward parts;

You wove me in my mother’s womb.

The author suddenly recognized himself as God’s creature. Even though his parent gave him a birth but God is really his father.

One is born by one’s parents, but one is beyond of their parents. In some case a parent wanted to have a girl but they gave birth a boy, and alternatively. Some couple wanted to have child but they couldn’t have one; and other case they didn’t want to have no more children but they had another one. God is my true father and mother, rather than my parents.

God created me, so God loves me. God pays attention to me in everything, even very tiny things. Nothing even very intimate for me can be unknown by God. Moreover, God has a wonderful plan for me in love. Why did I fear and want to hide myself from God?

iv. Please keep scrutinizing me to save me

Once recognizing this very truth, the author didn’t want to hide himself from God any more. Instead of escaping God, the author asks God for keep going to scrutinize him. Once recognizing God’s love for him, the author wanted to be close with God:

Search me, O God, and know my heart;

Try me and know my anxious thoughts;

And see if there be any hurtful way in me,

And lead me in the everlasting way.

Colloquy

Speak to God as you feel about God in your profound heart. It is God who take care of you from your beginning time until now. You are His very beloved one.

Please accomplish any thing You will about me, because I know that You love me so much. I believe it. I know that it is the truth.
